This life on earth is only temporary.  I have heard that said by many people from behind the pulpit and to me I agree with that but I find it ironic.  That statement makes it seem like we just need to “get by” while we are here and not be even a bit happy that we are here.  No, we are not with our Lord yet.  And yes, we do have pain, hurts, suffering, and loses, but we also have something that many people, I find, don’t tap into and that is power.  We have the power to change the world, for the better or for the worse.  12 people and a movement changed the world in a scheme that took a year to plan and prepare for in the 9/11 attacks.  William Wilberforce, a British senator, changed the world by standing up to slave trade, and we can see his story by watching the movie Amazing Grace. 

I would agree that this place is only temporary, but we need to tap into Jesus. John 14:12-13 says,”The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it.” God has given us a mandate, the power to complete it, and a victory at the end of life.  So yes, even though this place is temporary, it does afford us many opportunities to live like Jesus and change the (temporary) world for the better.
